Brooke Lowry booked her engagement photos to be taken at Disneyland expecting to feel like a princess, along side her prince for their “happily ever after.” Unfortunately, a change in plans put her in a different situation.
After the engagement was broken off after the photo shoot was confirmed past cancellation, Lowry decided it would be good to go anyway, by herself. “the dresses [were] carefully chosen and tailored, so I decided to show up anyways hoping to one day look back on the pictures knowing they marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new adventure,” Lowry told Huffington Post.
Lowry found that the people at the park were extremely kind.
“My hair and makeup artist Tatiana gifted me her services, a precious Disney employee named Pearl ‘Jay’ Wang heard me talking to the photographer and escorted me on a private tour of the Royal Hall, the princesses inside treated me so gently, I got into the park for free, I had a few guests ask me which princess I was, which made my day, and my photographer Drexelle Park was absolutely amazing in every way…I’m so grateful for the smallest acts of daily kindness that make all the difference in a broken world.”
This princess didn’t need to be saved, and her gorgeous solo-shoot proves it. She noted the beauty of modern princess characters, telling Huffington Post, “These remarkable female characters are put in extreme circumstances, but still display qualities we all have – strength, beauty, compassion, and courage.”
She hopes women experiencing heartbreak find inspiration to be courageous. This real-life princess has definitely inspired us.
