When the reception is really rocking, and the couple still wants to party with their closest family and friends, who says the night has to end? Many couples are choosing to continue their wedding party well after the reception ends. So you want to shimmy on down to a new location with your crew, but how do you make sure they are all following?
Place an additional card in the wedding invitation
Like the RSVP or hotel information, if you’re having an after party, be sure to figure it out ASAP and have a separate card in the invitations letting everyone know. If you can’t figure out a location and time right away, make sure everyone knows more information is to follow.
Direct them to the wedding website
This is especially important if you didn’t put the time and place in the invite card; make sure to have a wedding website where people can check on the after party details, and be sure to update them as soon as you know.
Spell it out in the program
If you have a ceremony program, or you have the events of the day written anywhere (chalkboard, etc.) for guests to refer to, be sure to put all the info for the after party!
Ask the DJ or band to make an announcement
Before the last song, have someone with a mic invite the guests to join the newly weds at the after party, and be sure they mention the location and plans for how to get there (make sure those who spent the night at the open bar don’t drive themselves).
Have the wedding party lead
Ask your wedding party to encourage people throughout the night to continue the celebrations at the after party. Make sure they know all the details, and anyone who has questions before the big day can ask anyone from your posse. If people need rides, or any kind of travel coordination, as your party to hold off on the drinks so they can DD anyone, or have them coordinate Uber rides, party buses, taxis, etc., well in advance.
